They should bad right-turn-on-red on the scramble crosswalks. It makes no sense to let cars make turns through the intersection as people are crossing from all directions. It isn't safe.

0:14 The difference is that distracting driving often kills people but distracted walking has no adverse affect on anything whatsoever. There is no need to tell pedestrians to just be safer. Pedestrians who do everything right still get hit and killed by cars in Santa Monica. It's the driver's responsibility to not crash into things or people with their car, it's not everybody else's responsibility to jump out of the way. So stop it with this "shared responsibility" bs. As a pedestrian I have no responsibility for the reckless things other people do with their car.

It's never too late to take down this embarrassment of a video. Nobody is harmed when a bicycle rides through a stop sign, but people die regularly when cars do it. Why? Because cars are multi-thousand pound machines that travel at literal break-neck speeds, while bicycles are 25 lbs and usually travel just slightly faster than jogging. So no, we don't need to harass bicycles riders who don't follow every rule car drivers are supposed to follow.
